Concert Diary 2024
Breathe Free:
Song of community, hope, and freedom from across America
Saturday 15th June 2024, 7.30 pm (doors open 7.00 pm)
St. Barnabas Church, Jericho, Oxford Tickets £15 (Under 18s and Students £10) Booking information coming shortly Jubilate presents a sweeping and varied exploration of American identity, exploring themes of home, belonging, and migration. Samuel Barber's Reincarnations pay homage to waves of Irish immigration, while works by contemporary composers Ayanna Woods and Sarah Rimkus challenge perceptions of what it is to find 'home' and build a community. Traditional Shaker pieces explore an alternative kind of communal life alongside works written during the Covid pandemic which traverse themes of togetherness and isolation. Eric Whitacre's soaring ode to freedom and imagination, Leonardo dreams of his flying machine, sits at the centre of a fantastically diverse, diverting and uplifting evening of music. |
